Marketing teams and dev teams — why aren’t they working together? Marketing teams are thinking about how the site will work in the wild to promote the brand. Designers and developers are thinking about how to make the pretty and calling it a day — figuring the marketing stuff is someone else’s problem.

But that’s not the case. If when you’re building a brand new website you’re not focused on how the site will be marketed to the public, you’re setting yourself up for failure, costing you thousands down the road. Ask any SEO agency worker and they’ll tell you that most of their clients have older websites that weren’t built properly to begin with.

Once they realize their site is neither search engine friendly nor user friendly, they engage an SEO to remedy the situation. This process is bass-ackwards.

Take charge of your new website build by insisting that your designers, developers and marketing team is working together right out of the gate. Insist your site be built with a clean information architecture, easy navigation, and it must provide a simple, aesthetically pleasing user experience.
